"Long-ears" and "Short-eyes"
'Long-ears' is an Eastern (Oriental) expression for those who are able to sense things others find difficult to hear or for
those with a longing to hear and take pleasure in 'folklore' and 'myths', rather than the truth. Thus one could have the
same cognomen and be either a 'prophet' or an 'indulger of fables'.  'Short-eyes', on the other hand, is another Oriental
expression connoting someone who can only see things up close (nearsighted) or has a limited ability to perceive the
obvious, tending to fill in the missing parts through their own imagination. The Apostle Paul spoke of such physical
eccentricities and their ersatz features in II Timothy 4:3-4 ... "For the time will come when they will not endure (put
up with) sound doctrine; but after their own lusts (desires) shall they heap (gather) to themselves teachers, having
itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables (myths)."(1)[Kjv (Niv)]
Many mature believers regard the present time as a season in which man is already ardently pursuing nouveau-myths
which are being heaped upon them by the commercial entertainment industry, quasi-religious movements and some
claiming to have the 'long-ears' of prophecy.  What we allow to enter in through the ear and eye gates will determine
what comes out the fountain of the mouth.  What an
awakening it would be for many if they recorded just one day's
worth of their conversation and miscellaneous ramblings, as an audit of the 'righteousness in their hearts' ... "For out
of the heart proceed evil thoughts"
(2)  and "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can
know it?  I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins (the interior self), even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings."
(3)   "The heart", the center of life for the Hebrew, was exceedingly deceitful
and treacherous, especially in propagating the idea that man's heart is naturally good.  This lie, planned and dispersed
by Satan himself, has been responsible for solo
efforts at self-reform, on both individual and social levels"(4)  (and
certain 'religious' movements).  "The word rendered
desperately wicked could be translated incurably sick. The heart
of every man is incurably sick or wicked and can be redeemed to righteousness
only by God through faith in Jesus
Scripture is replete with warnings to carefully examine and evaluate the intentions exhibited by 'kings', 'teachers',
'prophets', 'shepherds' and others in positions of 'governance and/or spiritual authority'.  Unless the fruit of their
'ruling' and 'ministry' is
sincere (without wax) we are to guard against their offerings (dainties): ... "Be not desirous of
his dainties (delicacies): for they are deceitful (deceptive) meat."
(5)  and "Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil
eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: ..."
(6)   We are now in a time/season
where great spiritual counterfeiters are to come(ing) forth
(7)  and even the mature (elect) can be vulnerable to
deceptions unless they are unflagging and tireless in their pursuit of The Truth and hold tightly to that Truth.
(8).  Praise
God for those who operate in a true and genuine gift of prophecy, who are able to see beyond the temporal and hear
the voice of the Spirit as He issues forth His end-time Revelation of Jesus Christ.
We know that certain groups take after their own decietful kind and congregate together, at times exclusively.  Be
watchful over the 'longness' of your own ears and the 'shortness' of your own eye for they will lead you into the
flocks and sheepfolds that emulate your belief(s), faith and practice.  Since faith comes by hearing we should be ever
so vigilant as to what we hear and from whence it is spoken.  The eye-gate is now under massive onslaught from
secular and 'pop-religious' vagaries via television broadcasts. Television and the Internet are the power mediums of the
near-future and need to be utilized appropriately and monitored carefully for their content and impact on our 'sensory
gates'.  Entertainment has become the message of the 21st Century, as well as the medium. When the medium
(messenger) becomes the message, be it commercial broadcasting or a local 'religious' trend, we must seriously
reassess to what our ears, eyes, and heart are attuned. In the middle of the word "H
ear" is the 'spiritual ear' which
must be guarded with the very life it brings. Guard your 'sensory gates' as if they could bring 'spiritual' life or death ...
because they can! The Lord's arm is not too short, His eye is not dim nor His ear dull to the faith and needs of those
that follow Him.  Let us pray, that from this day forward, we will earnestly endeavor to hear with His ears, speak with
His words and believe with His heart. AMEN
