Competition in these last days for the mind, body and
soul of man has reached a
polarized state, i.e., the
secular world and various religious institutions have
staunchly positioned themselves at the 'let us be'
more, bigger, different, and better end of the
Generally, we progress through stages of
'developmental maturity' beginning with "I want
more", to "I want to be different and special", to "I
want to be
better than others", and prayerfully to "I
need to seek
perfection through fulfillment in
Christ".(1)  Interestingly enough, the corporate
church seems to go through a similar sojourning and
conflict can occur when more than a few church
members are abiding at the far end of the
developmental path while the local church (no
matter how old) is still attempting to be
bigger than
others in their denomination, more
different than the
house of worship down the street, and/or
special to
the extent their 'special events' overshadow the
'spiritual' operations of the Holy Spirit and His
ministry of perfecting the bride-of-Christ in
waiting.(2)  Obviously, the reverse can also be true
when a church membership becomes fixated at the
beginning point of the developmental process and
resists becoming mature in the
'things of the
Spirit'
.(3)
be' more, bigger, different, and better end of the
spectrum; while some other parts of the 'established
religious community' have begun to circle the
wagons
and define rigid positional boundaries
creating congregational fortresses.
This goes
without saying anything about the
spiritual-forces-of-darkness and their agenda to
attempt to destroy the Church and all of her parts.
If there ever was a time to intercede for the lost
and unsaved world, this is the hour and the day.(6)

"For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and
with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall
rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall
be caught up together with them in the clouds, to
meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
the Lord."(7)  In 1st Corinthians the Apostle Paul
tells us ... "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall
not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; in a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be
raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed";(8) ...
summation, there will not be enough time nor
repentance operating during the "twinkling of an eye"
to change from a position of
more, bigger, different
or better (corporately or individually) into the
perfected image and likeness of Christ Jesus.

Listen with a discerning spiritual ear to the voice of
the Holy Spirit as He identifies the
'gospel message'
being preached, taught and presented for your
acceptance ... be it in a bible study group,
congregation or over the television broadcast
airwaves.  If the gospel you hear is "get all you can
now in your can (barn)" and let the fulfillment of
God's purpose for your life come after you have
been fully
prospered, healed, delivered, double
anointed and/or blessed with manifest spiritual gifts
... you may not have enough tomorrows to get it all
done. Seek the Holy Spirit to perfect His ministry in
your life as 'He transforms you into the likeness and
image of Christ Jesus'.

Call upon Him to establish the
mind, love, character
and
righteousness of Christ in your life and your
calling
this day. The perfecting work of the Holy
Spirit is seldom an instantaneous event nor is it
performed by fiat, rather it involves our submission,
repentance and obedience. The
more, bigger, better
criterion can surely be a ruse from the camp of the
enemy and such criteria rarely focus on the
perfecting work of the Spirit or the consummation of
'God's plan' in the "fullness of times".(9)
" ... now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day
of salvation."(6)

"And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the
Lord's glory, are being transformed (changed-Kjv)
into his likeness (image-Kjv) with ever-increasing
glory (from glory to glory-Kjv), which comes from
the Lord, who is the Spirit".(1)  The power of this
verse resides in "being transformed" ... "being
changed" into His
likeness and image as we are
moved by His Spirit into ever increasing Christ-like
perfection. To go from 'glory-to-glory' without
receiving the perfecting work of the Spirit that
changes us into His likeness, is just so much religious
exercise without His desired purpose being
accomplished, individually or corporately. Even
though 'change' is a fixed constant in the law of
nature and "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
hath made me free .."(4), man and his institutions
resist change almost at all cost.

The desire to 'have more and more', to continually
barn-up earthly treasure ... corporately and
individually, ever seeking to be special and different
from significant others, and possibly to be better at
the expense of the one in need of our best ... all
fly-in-the-face of  "And He said to them all, if any
man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross daily, and follow Me".(5)  Many
read Luke 9:23 as an operational definition for our
daily 'discipleship walk' with Christ.
