|"Strongholds are Seamless"
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us"(1 John 1:8). Know the
strongholds that attempt to continually establish themselves in your life. There never is a time to
accommodate a fortress of the enemy, or claim we no longer must war against (resist) the powers of evil
and sin, and/or believe that we have accomplished all that the Lord requires of us! We have only one true
stronghold ... "Christ is a Stronghold, a strong Tower, in whom believers are safe from the fear of the
wrath of God, the curse of the law, and the assaults of spiritual enemies" (see M. Henry-note, Zec. 9:9).
There are situations in life when God requires us to take territory by force (spiritually - see Matt. 11:12) and go
beyond just resisting ... to the occupying and holding of spiritual ground He has given to us. We thank God
for our calling to intercessory prayer and for all those that are committed to and faithful in this ministry.
"The weapons we fight with are not of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish
strongholds"(2 Cor. 10:4). Characteristically, strongholds are 'seamless' and difficult to readily detect in the
fabric of our thinking or the wrinkles of our heart. Destructive strongholds are formed when we allow the
forces and powers of darkness to gain a foothold in our thinking, behavior, beliefs and/or life-space.
Strongholds of darkness become barriers to God's provision of blessing, mercy, protection, healing,
deliverance, forgiveness and all the graces He bestows on those that trust in Him and are obedient to His
Seldom, if ever, will we meet a person who has not had at least one daunting stronghold in his life of one
kind or another. Denial of a spiritual stronghold in one's life is the quintessential guarantee that the
stronghold will remain, most likely increase in size and influence, and if not uprooted and utterly demolished
(destroyed) it will ultimately become a 'victory-hold' for the enemy. Seek only the stronghold of the Lord ...
"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him"(Nahum 1:7
Kjv). We praise God that Jesus Christ is our "blessed hope"(Titus 2:13) and unassailable stronghold.
The State of Israel is now (C. 2002) considering relinquishment of physical and 'covenant land' which God
granted to them as a nation since 1948. This forfeiture of God's land grant and the resulting temporary
'pseudo-peace' it may purchase will hasten the advancing stronghold of spiritual barrenness and bondage to
come upon the Israeli nation and its people (see Dan. 9:27). The forfeiture of God's blessing in our lives (or
nation) through poor judgment, spiritual blindness or a stubborn/rebellious spirit will render consequences of
a disastrous nature. If there ever was a time to "pray for the peace of Jerusalem" it is in this present day (see
Ps. 122:6). This is also the hour to pray for the 'peace' and 'renewal' of America ... for we are about to see a
'spirit of lawlessness' raise its ugly head and seek whom it may devour in the lands of Laodicea (see Rev.
3:14-22). 'Strongholds' are some of the most difficult 'blind spots' one can have in his or her spiritual belief
system, as well as behavior patterns. Don't be too aloof and disregard the need to have others help 'audit'
your spiritual repertoire and offer you a 'second opinion' as to your spiritual shortcomings. (see 1 Cor. 11:31)
